Hurstbridge train line to be duplicated under election promise from Andrews Government

 

The $530 million election pledge from Premier Daniel Andrews means that, regardless of who wins the November 24 poll, there will be duplication works on the Hurstbridge line, after the Coalition made a smaller commitment to double parts of the line. Labor's Vicki Ward holds the key marginal seat of Eltham, where the promised works will take place, by 2.7 per cent. Victorian Labor Premier Daniel Andrews promised to spend 530 million dollars to double the parts of Hurstbridge line in Melbourne as his election pledge for the November 2018 poll. The duplication works for the train line will take place in Greensborough and Montmorency which will result in the addition of more train services and the improvement of train times. Liberal candidate Nick McGowan expressed his disagreement to the plan citing road congestions as the main result of the project. However, the train line will undergo upgrades regardless of who will win in the election under the commitment of the coalition.
